Anyone a fan of the Toyota RAV4? If so, Avondale Toyota has good news for you. Toyota is officially ramping up production of the popular crossover at its factory in Ontario. With sales of the RAV4 and new Toyota vehicles in general higher than ever, the automaker decided it was time to expand Canadian output by quite a bit.

Specifically, company officials say that the Ontario assembly plant will increase to an annual capacity of 200,000 vehicles. That's a pretty significant rise in numbers from the current capacity of 150,000. Of course, an increase in RAV4 crossovers isn't the only benefit of the Toyota expansion. Thanks to an $80-million investment, the Toyota manufacturing facility will be able to offer 400 new jobs.

Ray Tanguay, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada Inc. (TMMC) Chairman, says, "We are optimistic that the market is coming back and we're grateful for the strong sales of the RAV4 in the North American market, which has created this increase in production and jobs."1

So, when will the expansion occur? Toyota officials exclaim that the implementation will take place as soon as early 2013. In addition to producing models of the RAV4, the Ontario plant also builds the Toyota Corolla, Toyota Matrix and even a Toyota luxury arm model as well. Brian Krinock, President of TMMC, gives full credit of the plant's success to its hard-working employees. He says, "From the moment TMMC opened...Team Members have consistently built quality into each and every RAV4."2

Of course, the product of Toyota team members' labor can easily be seen and experienced in the new Toyota models at Avondale Toyota.
