A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, Toyota came up with a vision for environmental sustainability and electric mobility. Just recently, two beloved droids took to spreading the message of one of those Prius models through a humorous commercial in Japan.
Which gas-electric Toyota auto joined forces with C-3PO and R2-D2? That would be the newest Toyota Prius Plug-In. The enjoyable TV spot begins with the two robots holding up a charging plug and looking puzzled. "What's this? R2, is this your charger?" C-3PO says. After determining that the mystery plug belongs to neither, C-3PO and R2-D2 watch in awe as a stunning Prius Plug-In rolls by. Suddenly, it all makes sense for the two bewildered bots.
The ad spot then goes on to feature C-3PO and R2-D2 spreading the message about the Prius model's remarkable capabilities. For those who might need a bit of a reminder, the Toyota Prius Plug-In works like a traditional hybrid but gives drivers the option of plugging in and charging up at their own home. What's more, the EPA estimates the total range to be about 540 miles with a total efficiency of 50 mpg. In the first 11 miles after a charge, that number goes up even higher to hit a 95 mpg equivalent.
In the end, the two Star Wars robots joke about how their personal batteries will run out of juice long before that of the Toyota Prius Plug-In.
