Sometimes two very different halves can make one complete and very unique whole. In the humble opinions of those of us here at Avondale Toyota, that is exactly what a newly-announced partnership between our favorite automaker, Toyota, and a certain luxury maker would certainly make.
That's why when last June we heard that the Japanese and German automakers had signed a memorandum of understanding we were quite intrigued. However since the signing, information regarding the future partnership has been quite limited, all that we'd heard was that the plans regarded a sports car and EV technology.
However that is all changing as is the officiality of the agreement; meaning, that the two parties have now signed a legally binding contract that highlights four projects they plan to work on. And we have to say that we at Avondale Toyota are quite excited about them all.
So what's planned?
For one, there is fuel cell technology. Toyota and Bimmer are planning to create a brand-new fuel cell system for vehicles. In the past, both have worked on this type of project independently but have gone in different directions. But, with the collaboration, the two will surely come up with something great.
There is also the aforementioned sports car the two automakers are planning to build. It will be mid-sized and completed by the end of the year.
Additionally, there is a general plan to build lighter weight technologies - and the final project, lithium air-batteries. This final one is one that will surely be exciting for our talented Toyota parts team. The plan is to create a lithium-air battery that will outperform all the others on the market.
